Reply Within Four Hours

Nothing kills a relationship like waiting for a reply and spiraling into "did I say something wrong?" mode. My girlfriend and I agreed on a simple rule: reply within four hours during waking hours.

If you can't reply properly, send a quick "busy, will reply soon 🙏" so the other person knows you've seen their message. This tiny courtesy eliminated 90% of our misunderstandings.

We also agreed that no response between 11 PM and 7 AM is allowed — sleep is sacred. If one of us messages late, we don't expect a reply until morning.

The rule isn't about surveillance. It's about respect. When you know when to expect a reply, you stop checking your phone every five minutes.
